01. Overview
DeVert ("we", "our", "us") operates devert.in - a developer platform for building, shipping, and competing. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and your rights over it. By using DeVert, you agree to the practices described here. If you disagree, please do not use the platform.
02. Data We Collect
Google Account Data
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We do not receive your Google password.
Platform Activity
XP points, tier level, arena match history, grind log entries, missions progress, shipped projects, and streak data generated through your use of the platform.
Usage Data
Pages visited, features used, and session metadata. This is used to improve the platform and is not sold to third parties.
User-Provided Data
Any bio, skills, or profile information you manually add to your Dev Card.
03. How We Use Your Data
Authentication
To verify your identity and maintain your session securely.
Platform Features
To power your Dev Card, leaderboard ranking, arena matches, missions, and grind log.
Communication
To notify you about platform updates, new features, or policy changes. You can opt out of non-essential communications.
Analytics
To understand how the platform is used and improve it. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized where possible.
04. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure with servers in the asia-south1 region (Mumbai, India). We implement industry-standard security measures including: • Role-based Firestore security rules - you can only read/write your own data • HTTPS-only transmission (TLS 1.3) • No passwords stored - authentication is delegated entirely to Google OAuth No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
05. Third-Party Services
Google Firebase
Authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase Hosting
Hosts the devert.in website. Subject to Google's Terms of Service.
Google Analytics
Used for usage analytics. You can opt out via browser settings or ad blockers.
06. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Platform activity data (arena matches, leaderboard history) may be retained in anonymized/aggregated form after account deletion.
07. Your Rights
Access
Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Correction
Update or correct inaccurate data via your Dev Card settings.
Deletion
Request complete deletion of your account and associated data.
Portability
Request your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection
Object to processing of your data for analytics or marketing purposes.
08. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication session management (Firebase Auth tokens). We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties. You can disable non-essential cookies via your browser settings, though this may affect platform functionality.
09. Children's Privacy
DeVert is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact our Grievance Officer immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via the platform or email. Continued use of DeVert after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
